Launched in the spring of 2010 by Jason Wallestad, Clay Johnston, and Tom Hutchinson, School Webworks is a company based in Minnesota’s Twin Cities. We focus specifically on the needs of schools looking to enhance and modernize their presence on the Internet.
Who We Are
Jason has been a high-school teacher for over 15 years in Minnesota and South Dakota. He has taught in urban and rural schools, both public and private. He is currently an English teacher at Benilde-St. Margaret’s School in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
Clay is a seasoned developer, with over 17 years of experience with Internet technologies and Web development. He currently owns and operates his own interactive development agency, Sprung, in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Tom is an Internet veteran, having worked in the industry for over 11 years as a trainer, project manager, and product manager. He currently manages special projects for School Webworks and leads the day-to-day operations of the company he co-owns with Jason, School Newspapers Online.
How We Began
We teamed up in the winter of 2008 to build a Web site for the school newspaper that Jason advises, the Knight Errant. With that site as our starting point, we launched School Newspapers Online, a company that builds Web sites specifically designed for school newspapers. The Knight Errant Web site was one of 7 school newspaper Web sites to win the prestigious National Scholastic Press Association PaceMaker award in 2009, and the Knight Errant won the NSPA PaceMaker award again in 2010, along with two other School Newspapers Online Web sites. Over the past two years, we have built and launched more than 700 Web sites for school newspapers.
School Webworks
In the process of working with so many schools across the country, we found that many rely on outdated Web sites that lack all the features available on the Web today. So we decided to offer the same services to schools that we do for school newspapers. That got us started building a series of templates designed specifically for schools.
Our Mission
We know how overwhelming changing technology can be –– our services are designed to take care of all the technological challenges for you. As our clients use our sites and grow in their knowledge and understanding of Web publishing and Web design, we’ll be there to help by answering any type of question they have regarding the use, design, and function of their site. We include unlimited support with all of our Web sites.
Our goal with School Webworks is to offer schools the very thing we’ve already delivered for school newspapers: professional quality Web sites that are fully-customizable, highly-functional, completely affordable, and absolutely easy to use. We would love to get you and your school started with a modern, feature-rich Web site that will impress and engage your community.
